About South Africa

South Africa is located at the southernmost point of the African continent. It is bordered by Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique.  Some of the earliest human remains in the fossil record are found in South Africa, along with the oldest art objects in the world. Today's South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures, languages, and religions. While known for its vibrant, bustling cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town, many are quick to forget that South Africa faces one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world and is still working to undo years of inequality created by apartheid.
