Glass Blowing
Using a blowpipe, the artisan gathers molten glass on one end, then rolls it on a steel table called a marver to start shaping it. To add color, colored glass powders, pieces, bars and more are placed on the marver and rolled over with the molten glass. The artisan constantly reheats the glass using an opening in a specialized furnace. Then, the artisan blows into the blowpipe to expand the glass and continue the shaping process. Once the piece is shaped, it is placed in a lower temperature oven to cool.
