About Cambodia

Cambodia is a primarily Buddhist country situated on the Gulf of Thailand in Southeast Asia. Despite its long history of violence and conflict, Cambodia's economic stability has been improving. However, many still live in poverty, especially those in rural areas where food shortages and lack of work opportunities are common. Most Cambodians consider themselves to be Khmers, descendants of the Angkor Empire that extended over much of Southeast Asia and reached its zenith between the 10th and 13th centuries. The Khmer people account for 95% of the country's population.
