YWCA Of Dhaka

Hilda, Embroiderer

The YWCA of Dhaka Craft Centre was started in 1973 to provide training in sewing and embroidery for women, many of whom had been abandoned or abused by their husbands. The Center's programs currently benefit 400 women.

In addition to contributing to the family income, the women who participate in the project learn to read and write, receive subsidized snacks and health care, contribute to a 10% compulsory savings program, are eligible for interest-free loans, and have access to free legal services.

My time at The Enterprising Kitchen has been a wonderful opportunity for me to start over and become independent. My experience helped me plan my future goals....I plan to work in community law and assist nonprofit organizations such as The Enterprising Kitchen. Stella Donald, The Enterprising Kitchen.
